It may sound strange, but my main interest in Dr Who is the music. The output of the BBC Radiophonic Workshop, of which the Dr Who theme is one of the most well-known, forms the foundation for my interest in the application of electronics in music. The CD Dave-o bought me is compiled by a guy named Mark Ayres, who is a bit of an authority on the Workshop and has produced considerable documentation about the creation and recreation of Dr Who audio. Sadly, the Workshop is now just another museum exhibit—another truly groundbreaking aspect of the BBC’s history killed off by bureaucracy.
